WHAT OTHERS SAY...

Erik and I have opened our lives up to the world in hopes of adding to our family.  Still, there is only so much we can say.

What would you say?  To those who know us well, what might you tell others about us?
What would you say about our family relationships and our love?
What do you see in our daughter and us as parents?

Whether you are a family member, a friend, or a co-worker, feel free to share your thoughts by simply commenting on this post.  And, of course, thank you!

To those reading this...we hope the words of others do even more to give you a feel for our family and what life with us is really like!

  1. Suzy and Erik are a generous, gentle, and loving couple. It is always so much fun to be around them. Suzy's dad and I are very excited to watch as they raise our grandchildren with their own special brand of love and joy!

  2. Sweet, smart, stable, authentic, adventurous, kind, creative -- so perfectly suited to be a mama and a dad. I can't wait till the day that you hold that baby in your arms and become the parents and family you were born to be!

  4. When you meet Erik and Suz, you'll forget all I have to say. Because when you're with them, you'll know you met the right couple. Believe me -- you'll just know.

I met Erik and Suz in college and take full credit for introducing them to one another. Alone, they were smart, funny, and thoughtful people. Together, they took all those valuable assets and formed an amazing bond built on trust, friendship, dedication, and love. They can be silly and argue about their favorite sports teams; they are also the ones we all can pour our hearts out to.

If you're considering Suz and Erik to be a new family for a child, you need to know that you need not look further. They are educated in the classroom and knowledgeable about the world. They live their values. They are patient, stable, driven, and full of life. More than any of that, though, they are a couple ready to welcome a new member into their family. They truly know and understand the challenges of raising a child and look ahead to those challenges with excitement, joy, and anticipation. Their aim is to share their lives with someone, to teach and guide him/her, and to rear a child knowing love, kindness, affection, and grace.

If you're reading this, you have a very complex decision ahead of you. Please know that by meeting Suz and Erik, you're taking a step toward boundless love.

  5. Suzannah and Erik are wonderful people! They are extremely caring and they have the patience that it takes to raise children. I would rate them a 10 out of 10 for people who most deserve to be parents. Any child would be so lucky to get to call them mom and dad!

  6. Suzy was my child's kindergarten teacher and when I learned she was interested in adopting a child, my reaction was what a lucky kid. She is caring and warm but will be firm when needed. If you choose Suzy and Erik to raise your child you have won they lottery!

  7. Suzy Toso was our son's kindergarten teacher - and we are so grateful to have had her as a wonderful influence in our son's life - and in our own lives. She is a loving, patient, caring person. The year he was in her class, he became gravely ill and spent many weeks in intensive care in the hospital. Suzy came to the hospital to support us in that scary time. She brought with her not only her emotional support, but a beautiful leather-bound copy of the Chronicles of Narnia - a story her class was reading. We read to our son from this book while he lay in a coma, and the whole time felt her support and an ongoing connection to his class. This book remains a cherished possession of ours, a symbol of a great teacher and a very special person. And when our son returned to class, needing some accommodations and extra help, Suzy was just the right person to provide that support. I know he felt her love and support - and he now several years later considers her a very important person in his life.

  8. Suzy was born to be a mom and she has the perfect husband to join her and be a dad. As someone who is not only a friend of Suzy’s, but also works with her, you can see her face light up when she is around children. You can see how much she not only loves her students, but all of the children at our school! Erik and Suzy will be supportive, dedicated, and loving parents who will love their baby unconditionally. Erik and Suzy are intelligent, humble, kind, loving, and just people who you want to be around! They will be exceptional parents and a child will be a perfect addition to their family.

  9. It is fitting that I write about Suzy Toso on Mother's Day (2013), as I cannot think of a person who will make a better mother. I have come to know, love and respect Suzy first as the kindergarten teacher to my two children (now in grades 1 and 3), and later as a friend. Some adjectives I would use to describe Suzy: kind, caring, loving, nurturing, firm, centered, grounded, responsible, dependable, loyal. She is, quite simply, an extraordinary person.

As a teacher, she is able to instill in her students a love for learning, nurture their sense of wonder and curiosity, maintain discipline with a firm yet loving hand, and make her students feel safe, loved and special. My children continue to adore her, and count her as one of their favorite teachers.

I also have had the opportunity to come to know Suzy as a friend. She has shared with me openly her fertility experience, and her strong desire to form a family through adoption. I know she and her husband will be amazing parents to the child they adopt, and will welcome the birth family to be part of that experience. I say that with confidence, as an adoptee myself who has a relationship with my own birth family. I have also had the experience of Suzy supporting me as a friend when I went through breast cancer last year. She let me know with words and deeds that she was there for me unconditionally during that difficult time.

If you are a birthparent considering adoption for your child, please consider Suzy and Erik Toso. You can rest assured that your child will have an amazing home, family, and extended family, which includes her very special birthparents.

  10. I have had the pleasure of knowing Suz and Erik for 13 years. I knew them both as friends, knew them as they met and dated, and have loved knowing them as the wonderful married couple they are! Suz and Erik are a true couple and have all the qualities of great parents. I can not think of more deserving people. I remember late night conversations with Suz in college about our futures. It was clear, even then, that Suz and Erik were destined for each other and destined to have a family. I pray that this wish comes to true for these lovely people. Please consider the Tosos!

  11. Erik and Suz are easily the most loving, selfless, nurturing, fun and intelligent couple I've ever been around. I genuinely know in my heart that any child who they would take in would be the most loved and fortunate child in the world. They truly deserve to be parents and all children deserve to have parents who are as amazing as they are.

  12. My family is lucky to live next door to the Toso family. Our girls are the same age and have enjoyed countless hours of playtime together. I have seen first hand how they have supported their daughter to grow into an adventurous, kind, and smart little girl with a huge heart. They parent with love, creativity, and wisdom, and clearly have a ton of fun together as a family. I would not hesitate to trust my own children with Suzy and Erik and know that the little one who joins their family next will be incredibly blessed - not only with two amazing parents, but with an awesome big sister who is ready to love too.

  13. I have been pretty lucky to have gotten to know Erik and Suz and their daughter closely. I met Suz and Erik about three and half years ago as I am in a relationship with Erik's brother. Erik and Suz are a loving and open couple and are raising a toddler who is such an enormous delight. Suz is a kindergarten teacher who has great passion for kids. She is dedicated to fostering creativity, deep thinking and is so fun with the amount and type of activities she does with her daughter. She's such a great mother and person! Erik is a scientist and a loving and devoted father. The perfect match for Suz! He is a kind, fun and smart person. I know that he sets an awesome example for his daughter fostering laughter, happiness and confidence. I am very impressed with their toddler daughter when I get to spend time with her. She is fun, confident, sharing and smart. Just a few weeks ago, she showed me the puzzles she was working on and I was so impressed with her abilities and speech for her age. All 3 of them will welcome their newest family addition with such joy and thoughtfulness.

  14. I am fortunate to be friends with Suz, and my oldest daughter to be friends with Kenley. Suz and I find such common ground together as parents, and I am thankful to have a friend to laugh with and to relate with when it is hard. Kenley is such a joy to be around, fun to play with, and so so sweet to my 1 year old. She is ready to have a baby around :) Erik and Suzy have a lot of love to share, a love that will only grow with their family.
